A M Strickland Prize

To be awarded for the best paper on a manufacturing industries mechanical engineering subject published by the Institution in the previous year or for a contribution or achievement in that field.

To be awarded every second year along with the Whittle Reactionaries Prize

Eligibility

Nominations for the prize must be made by a third party. Self-nominations will not be accepted. Nominations are not restricted to members of the Institution.

The individual or group being nominated must not be informed that they are being considered until a decision has been made and ratified by the Institution.

Value of award

  • £500.

Judging

Judging of nominations and selection of the successful candidate will be carried out by a judging committee drawn from the members of the Manufacturing Industries Division. The recommendation of the judging committee will be subject to ratification by the Board.

Timetable

  • Call for nominations: February 2020
  • Deadline for nominations: 20 April 2020
  • Review of nominations and award proposal: 20 April 2020
  • Submission of proposed award to Awards Committee: May 2020
  • Decision of Awards Committee and Trustee Board: June 2020
  • Notify winner: 20 July 2020
  • Presentation of prize: TBC.
